On July 22, 1950, a major event took place in the cultural life of Gatchina - the city cinema was opened.
The new institution, in honor of the recently concluded victorious war of the Soviet people against the Nazi invaders, was given the beautiful and proud name "Victory".
After 35 years, the Pobeda cinema received a new building; its opening took place on May 8, 1985.The cinema is constantly working to promote the best domestic and foreign films, using various forms of cultural and educational work aimed at the moral, aesthetic and patriotic education of the viewer.Since 1995, 25 Russian Film Festivals Literature and Cinema have been successfully held within the walls of the Pobeda cinema together with the Russian Film Festival Literature and Cinema Foundation.
The Literature and Cinema Film Festival is the only film festival of literary adaptations in Russia.
During the period of 25 film festivals, more than 1,600 films were shown, at least 1,900 screenings took place, and 200,000 viewers were served.
The film festival has become a notable event in the cultural life of Russia and has received international attention.
